At HoneyComb Cabin we love Beeswax and I wanted to let you know how special your beeswax candle is. When you bring your pure beeswax candle home you will find that it is just that bit more superior than other candles.
Beeswax candles have been used for centuries for their clear and consistent flame, which is the closest of any candlelight to sunlight. They are prized for being non-toxic, biodegradable, and 100% renewable and sustainable.
Beeswax also does not go rancid, unlike other waxes.
So, as long as the wick is intact your candle will remain perfect for a long time.
And, when you decide to light your candle, as beeswax has a higher melting point of any wax, it will last 2 to 3 times longer than other types of wax candles. You will not get the ‘soot’ stains on your walls that other candles can make and as beeswax is unlikely to drip, there will be a lot less mess – if any at all!
The candles are lightly scented with the honey and pollen that the bees collected and stored in the wax when it was used in the hive. Making each batch unique and completely natural, with no synthetic or toxic scents added.
Also, when burnt, beeswax releases negative ions which are known to reduce the pollution in the air.
When you buy a beeswax candle it is benefiting you three times.
1. In the creation of the wax, honeybees are pollinating our fruit and veg, making our food and improving our environment.
2. When you buy the beeswax candle, you are bringing a piece of nature into your home and they look fantastic. When you chose to burn your candle, it will clean the air in your room, leaving a beautiful honey aroma with no soot and very little drip.
3. Your purchase helps beekeepers to maintain honeybee populations and therefore benefiting our environment and your world.
We hope that you enjoy your candles and come to love beeswax as much as we do.
Bloom
If you decide not to light your candle for a while, you may notice a frosting on your candle after some time, this is called ‘bloom’. It starts off as a white covering and then develops into a crystal like frost. This only happens to 100% pure beeswax candles. There is nothing wrong with your candle. The presence of bloom is used by beeswax enthusiasts as an indicator of the purity of the beeswax in their candles. It is a completely natural occurrence and is due to some of the oils in the wax rising to the surface and crystalizing. Some people prefer the bloom on the candles as it gives the candle an antique look. If it is something that you would prefer not to have, it is easily removed by either a gentle wipe with a soft cloth or a very light and brief heat from a hairdryer.
HoneyComb Cabin candles are hand crafted in small batches and use only 100% beeswax with pure cotton braided wicks. We have a variety of hand rolled wax candles and hand poured moulded candles.
Use
Before lighting, trim the wick to 5mm.
Only burn the candle in a suitable candleholder, on a level and fire safe surface.
Do not burn for more than 4 hours at a time.
To have the most efficient use of the candle and to avoid rapid or uneven burning, keep it free of any foreign materials, including matches. Avoid drafts, vents, or any air currents.
To prevent 'tunnelling', burn pillar and candlestick candles on their first burn until the wax pool reaches the edge of the candle. When you extinguish the candle 'hug' the edges of the wax - gently push the edges around the wax pool very slightly in towards the centre.
The best way to extinguish your candle is not to blow the flame out - this can cause soot. Gently push the wick momentarily into the wax pool and then straighten immediately. This not only prevent soot but will put a wax coating on the wick, giving it fuel for its next burn.
Safety
Always keep the lit candle within your sight. Do not leave unattended.
Keep out of reach of children and pets.
Keep flame away from flammable materials.
Do not touch or move a burning candle.
Keep away from drafts.
Place candle on a level, fire safe surface.
